Kamp Meal Prep – Privacy Policy

Kamp Meal Prep is a meal-planning and grocery-list app for households. This policy explains what information the app handles and where it goes. The short version: there are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no sale of data.

What stays on your phone

Your recipe box, weekly meal plan, pantry, and grocery list are stored on your device. If you never join a household, none of this leaves your phone.

What is sent to our servers

• Recipe searches. The text you type (for example "quick chicken dinners"), the number of servings, and any dietary notes are sent to our server, which forwards them to Anthropic's Claude API to generate recipes. The results come back to your phone. We do not store your searches.
• Pantry photo scans. When you choose to scan a photo, a reduced-size copy of that photo is sent to our server and forwarded to Anthropic's Claude API to identify food items. The photo is used only to produce that list and is not stored by us. Photos are sent only when you tap "Find food in photo".
• Usage counting. To keep the free AI features sustainable, each household (or each phone, if not in a household) gets a monthly allowance of recipe searches and photo scans. The app generates a random identifier on first launch and sends it, or your household code, with each AI request so we can count usage. The identifier is not derived from your device hardware and is not tied to your identity.
• Household sync (optional). If you create or join a household, your recipe box, meal plan, pantry, grocery checkboxes and hand-added grocery items are stored on our server so they can be shared with other phones that know your household code. Anyone with the code can see and change this data, so share it only with people in your home. Leaving the household stops syncing; the data on the server remains until the household is deleted.

• Anthropic processes recipe searches and photo scans to generate results. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
• Vercel and Neon host our server and database.

We do not use advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or tracking of any kind, and we do not sell or share personal information for marketing.

What we do not collect

No name, email address, account, location, contacts, or hardware device identifiers. Household codes and the usage-counting identifier are random and are not tied to your identity.

AI-generated content

Recipes and pantry scan results are produced by AI and can contain mistakes. Check ingredients for allergens and cook meat, poultry and eggs to safe temperatures. The app does not provide medical or nutritional advice.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

• Use the app without ever joining a household, and nothing but your search text and chosen photos leaves the phone.
• Settings > Delete all app data removes everything stored on your phone. If you are in a household, the deletion also syncs to the household.
• To have a household's server data deleted entirely, email us with the household code.
